In the wake of an election that now threatened the right for LGBTQ+ couples to marry, a group of volunteers got together to spread radical joy in a rather uncertain time.
That group, Project Do'gooders had a radical idea. Marry as many queer couples as possible, while we still can. Three months later, we did just that. Through the generosity of our volunteers and community, we were able to gift twelve couples a complete mini wedding - from the walk down the aisle to the first dance. We did all of this in one day, at no cost to them. The day was filled with so much love and joy, that I knew we had done something truly special.
During that event, I officiated three of the twelve ceremonies. It was during these ceremonies that I realized just how unique and wonderful queer weddings truly are. Having not only planned my own wedding, but twelve additional ones as well, I was intimately familiar with the delicate intricacies and nuanced emotions that accompany queer weddings. This inspired me to offer my officiant services to the community I love. Unabashed Unions. Honestly. Radically. Unabashedly.
